Yahoooooo!!! We (Liverpool) are now back in 5th placing just four points behind Everton. However, only 1 point in front of Bolton!!! Posting a win of 2-1. More injuries abound...hopefully not long-term ones...we'll see. Next up of course, Chelsea, MU and Arsenal wins their matches leaving the top 3 positions unchanged.
Lyon, PSV, Bayern, Milan, Juve, Inter, Barca and Real also posted wins over the weekend. Milan are now top of the Serie A, however up only on goal difference of 32-31, sharing points with Juve with Inter 16 points behind. Schalke 04 loses top spot to Bayern after losing 2-1 to Mainz, although both teams share the same points Bayern are up on goal difference by 24-12. Third place Stuttgart are 5 points behind. Lyon keeps the top spot on Ligue 1, 11 points clear of Marseille with Monaco 1 point behind and Lille another point behind that. PSV are still top of the Eredevisie, 7 points clear of nearest rivals AZ Alkmaar also 7 points clear of Ajax both AZ and Ajax have a game in hand. Barca are up and away in the La Liga, 11 points clear of Real who are 9 points clear of Betis.
Renault posts another win, this time with Fernando Alonso and although Fizi looked like making another 1-3 podium finish a collision with Mark Webber put paid to that dream. Schumy finally in the points, only because of the accident between Webber and Fizi. Jarno Trulli posts the first podium finish for Toyota in 2nd place with Heidfeld rounding up the 3rd spot. Sauber still out of the points as is BAR, Minardi and Jordan.
Excessive tyre wear was a particular problem with Webber and Fischella ultimately crashing out as they battled lack of grip playing a key role in their collision. Rubens Barrichello was another victim of tyre-related problems– he was forced to retire his otherwise healthy car after excessive rear-tyre wear, brought on by some debris. Kimi Raikkonen suffered a right rear puncture due to a damaged tyre valve on his McLaren shortly after his first pitstop, only slightly weaving due to the highspeed he was going at. He finished the race in 9th place, a shame really as he posted the fastest lap for the race.
