Langkawi!

BEACHES AND WATERFALLS

Pantai Kok and Burau Bay

This is located along the western coastline of Langkawi. White sandy beach.

Pantai Cenang

This is located along the southwestern coastline of Langkawi. All forms of water sports here: jet skiing, water skiing, windsurfing, catamaran sailing and private boat excursions.

Pantai Tengah

Stretches on from Pantai Cenang towards the Awana Jetty.

Tanjung Rhu Beach

Long stretches of white sandy beach and is ideal for picnics or swimming.

Telaga Tujuh Waterfall

Located along the mountain range of Gunung Mat Chincang this waterfall is about 91 metres high. Also known as Seven Wells Waterfalls. People have been known to slip and fall here so please be careful.

Temurun Waterfall

This is located between The Andaman and the crocodile farm. Not as spectacular as Telaga Tujoh. This waterfall is a short walk from the car park.

Langkawi Falls

This is located between The Andaman and the crocodile farm. This man-made waterfall is across from the car park leading to Temurun Waterfall. It is also the highest man-made waterfall in Malaysia.

Durian Perangin Waterfall

This is located north of Kuah on the way to Tanjung Rhu and near Air Hangat Village. The waterfall is a 3 km walk from the main road and is therefore a full days outing maybe with a picnic. The waterfall and its surrounding area provide the ideal location for resting or picnicking.

ARTS AND CRAFTS

Atma Alam

This is also known as a Batik Village and it showcases local art and handicrafts such as batik. Also shown here are Batik cloth painting, Malaysian kites - Wau, baskets and potteries, woodcarvings and paintings.

Ibrahim Hussein

The Ibrahim Hussein Museum and Art Gallery houses a fine display of exhibits from contemporary artists, making this well worth a visit.

It is open daily from 1000hrs to 1800hrs. There is a charge to get in.

CAVES

Gua Cerita

30-minute boat ride from Tanjung Rhu. Ancient inscriptions on walls and interesting stalagmites can be seen.

Gua Kelawar

Located to the north east of the main island. A wooden jetty through the cave allows the visitor to stroll around the 60 metres of the cave at leisure.

Gua Teluk Dedap

This cave is found directly on a beach but is a 45-minute boat ride from Tanjung Rhu. The cave is 10 metres deep and has a small shallow stream running through it. You can either walk or take a boat ride through it during high tide.

THEME PARKS

Dataran Lang and Legend’s Park

This is located in Kuah. The park has tableaus depicting the main legends of the islands. There is a charge to get in.

Underwater World

This is located on the beach front of Pantai Cenang. The aquarium houses 6,000 species of fish. There is a 6-metre long tunnel tank, which you can walk through and surround yourself with fish, a large hexagonal tank where you can see a large variety of fish and also a touch pool where you can touch or feed them. There is a charge to get in.

Langkawi Bird Paradise

As the name suggests, housing all kinds of birds. There is a charge to get in.

GALERIA PERDANA

This houses the Ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia's souvenirs and gift collections from his diplomatic journeys throughout the world. There is a charge to get in.

NIGHT MARKETS

These are held throughout the island and are very similar to village markets where you have to haggle to obtain the best price. Cooked food, vegetables, fish, clothing, household articles, souvenirs, shoes and leather goods can be bought here. Held at various locations daily.
